Ingredients
Serves: 12- 1 (18 ounce) package yellow cake mix (with pudding)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 (15 ounce) jar applesauce
- 2 eggs
- 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
- 1/3 cup loosely packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup chopped hazelnuts
- 2 teaspoons water
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 50 mins | Extra time: 2 hours, cooling1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and coat a 9-inch springform pan with nonstick cooking spray.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, cinnamon, and oil. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup of this mixture.
3. Add applesauce and eggs to remaining cake mixture. Beat on low speed until moist, then increase speed to medium and continue beating for 2 minutes.
4. Spread batter evenly in springform pan. Drop apple pie filling by spoonfuls over the batter.
5. In a small container, combine brown sugar, nuts, and reserved cup of crumbly cake mixture with the 2 teaspoons water. Sprinkle over apple pie filling.
6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes, then remove sides of springform pan and cool another 1 1/2 hours.
