Ingredients
300 g | flour, all-purpose |
50 g | sugar |
20 g | active dry yeast |
1 tsp | salt |
180 ml | warm milk |
2 tbsp | butter, softened |
4 medium | eggs |
40 g | almonds, chopped |
60 g | candied fruit, chopped |
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, yeast, salt and 100g flour. Add milk and butter and beat for 2 minutes on medium speed. Add 2 eggs and 50 g flour. Beat again for 2 minutes on high speed. Stir in candied fruit and almonds. Mix and combine well. Stir in remaining flour to form a soft dough.Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
Place in a greased bowl and turn once. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Punch dough down and divide in half. Roll each piece into a rope.
Twist ropes together and place on a greased baking sheet. Form into a ring and pinch ends together.
Gently split the ropes so that there is enough space to place an egg inside it after baking. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Bake at 180°C for about 35 minutes or until golden brown.
Hard-boil the eggs. Colour the eggs and place into the spaces inbetween the ropes for an Easter decoration.
