Dried fruit compote recipe details
- Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 cups pitted prunes
- 1 cup dried apricots
- 1/2 cup dried figs
- 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
Tie spices in a piece of cheesecloth. Put prunes, apricots, and figs in a large saucepan (minimum of 2 quarts) and add cold water. Cover dried fruit completely with water. Add spices in cheesecloth to water along with honey and lemon juice. Cover and bring to a boil. Immediately lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Put into wide-mouth jar and refrigerate for 2 days before serving.
