Dream bars recipe details
- Ingredients Crust:
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup flour
- Ingredients Topping:
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup slivered almonds
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine shortening, butter, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly. Stir in flour. Press into an ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes.
While crust is cooking, prepare topping by combining eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing thoroughly. Stir in coconut and almonds. Spread topping onto baked crust. Return to oven and bake an additional 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly and cut into bars.
