Crispy and spicy minced meat pasties recipe details
Ingredients
9 leaves | filo pastry |
1 clove(s) | garlic, mashed |
1 | onion, chopped |
2 tbsp | oil |
600 g | fresh spinach leaves, washed and dripping wet |
salt and pepper | |
nutmeg | |
500 g | beef mince |
80 g | raisins |
50 g | pine nuts |
cinnamon | |
1 | egg yolk |
cumin | |
5 tbsp | single cream |
Instructions
In a pan heat half of the oil and sauté half of the onions. Add the dripping wet spinach and cook stirring until wilted. Strain and press out the liquid, then chop the spinach.Heat the remaining oil and fry the mince until brown and crumbly. Add the remaining onions, the garlic, raisins and pine nuts. Cook stirring for 10 minutes, then stir in the spinach. Season to taste with salt, pepper, nutmeg cinnamon and cumin.
Whisk together the egg yolk and the cream. Cut 3 filo pastry leaves crosswise into halves. Brush the edges of the remaining 6 filo pastry leaves with the egg yolk mixture. Place a half leave in the middle of each. Top with 3 tablespoons of the mince and spinach mixture and roll up until well sealed all around.
Preheat the oven to 175°C. Brush the pasties with the remaining egg yolk and bake for 15-20 minutes.
