This easy cake, flavored with whiskey, is the perfect cake for the bourbon fan’s birthday.

Ingredients

Serves: 6
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup whiskey

Preparation method

Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 30 mins

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 10-inch cake pan with nonstick cooking spray and line with parchment paper.
2. Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda in a mixing bowl and stir with a whisk.
3. In a stand mixer, beat butter with sugars until creamy and light. Add one egg and beat to combine, then add the remaining eggs, one at a time.
4. Turn the mixer speed down to low and add the dry ingredients. Beat until combined, then stir in molasses and whiskey. Pour into prepared baking dish.
5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool slightly, then serve.
