Cinnamon breakfast apples recipe details
- Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 4 or 5 large cooking apples (about 1-1/2 pounds)
- 2 Tablespoons water
- 1/4 cup butter
The perfect fall comfort food…apples simmered with cinnamon and nutmeg. A splash of cream makes it a real treat.
Combine sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Peel and core apples. Chop apples into bite-size pieces and layer in a 4-cup measuring cup alternately with sugar mixture. When there are 4 cups, put apples, water, and butter into saucepan. Cover and cook over low to medium heat, stirring once or twice, for 15 to 20 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve as a side dish or as a topping for pancakes or waffles.
