- Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg, separated
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- Jam or jelly
This recipe was from the Zion Lutheran Church of Carleton, Nebraska Bicentennial Cookbook (1976).
Cream butter and brown sugar. Add egg yolk and flour to butter-sugar mixture. Form in balls about walnut size. Dip in slightly beaten egg white. Roll in chopped nuts. Press centers with thumb. Bake in 350-degree oven for 8 minutes. Remove and press centers lightly with utensils with a rounded end. Bake 10 minutes longer. When cool, fill centers with a dab of jelly or jam.
