Christmas mincemeat recipe details
Ingredients
1 kg | apples, peeled, cored and chopped |
250 medium | dry cider |
250 g | raisins |
230 g | sultanas |
250 g | currants |
250 g | brown sugar |
230 g | candied peel, chopped |
50 g | almonds |
2 | oranges, grated zest and juice |
2 | lemons, grated zest and juice |
½ tsp | mixed spice |
½ tsp | cinnamon, ground |
4 tbsp | brandy or rum |
Instructions
In large saucepan, dissolve the sugar in the cider. Add the roughly chopped apples to the saucepan.Add all the other ingredients, except the brandy or rum. Simmer for 30 minutes until everything has a pulpy consistency.
Take off the heat and once cooled slightly stir in brandy or rum.
