Chicken and sausage with whole grain penne recipe details

Ingredients
Serves: 8- 1 (16 ounce) package uncooked Whole Grain Penne pasta
- 2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
- 1 pound Jimmy Dean(R) regular or hot sausage
- 1 tablespoon spicy garlic flavored oil
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- salt and pepper to taste
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 30 mins1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add penne and cook for 10 to 11 minutes or until al dente; drain. Cover pasta in pot with warm water to keep warm but not hot enough to continue cooking.
2. Cut chicken breasts into bite-size cubed pieces. Crumble up sausage. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, put oil, chicken and sausage to skillet. Cook until sausage is brown and chicken is opaque. Add the tomatoes and the wine. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 20 minutes uncovered.
3. Season mixture with Basil, Rosemary, Salt and Pepper to taste. Add cooked, drained pasta to the skillet or Dutch oven mixture. Toss and serve.
