Challah french toast recipe details
- Ingredients
- 1 loaf Challah
- 6 eggs, slightly beaten
- 2 cups half & half
- 1/4 cup rum
- 1 Tablespoon orange zest
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, or to taste
- Corn flake cereal
Place corn flakes in a sealed plastic bag and crush moderately with a rolling pin. Do not crush to a powder. Whisk together the eggs, half & half, rum, orange zest, sugar, and spices. Dip Challah slices in egg mixture then in crushed corn flakes to coat. Let sit 10 to 15 minutes to absorb liquid before sauteing in melted margarine until crispy and golden brown.
Serving Ideas: Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup.
