Captain's innbed and breakfast recipe details
- Ingredients (in order of use)
- Group A
- 1-1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Group B
- 1-1/2 cups flour
- 1/3 cup powdered baking cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Group C
- 3 cups old fashioned oatmeal
- 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup pecans
Adapted from the lid of a Quaker Oats Oatmeal Container (minus the nuts which I added). Oatmeal and chocolate are both good for you!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix group A (sugar, butter, egg, vanilla) in a large mixing bowl. Mix group B (flour, cocoa, soda, salt) in a separate mixing bowl. Add group B to bowl with group A, mix until well blended. To this dough add group C (oats, chocolate chips, nuts) and mix well. Chill finished dough mix for one hour. Roll dough into balls (about 2 Tablespoons per ball) and place on no-stick cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
Be sure to have plenty of cold milk on hand when serving.
