Instructions
Melt butter in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté onions until they are brown for about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and pour in water. Season with salt and pepper. Reduce heat and let cook for 1 hour.Place the bread cubes into a large mixing bowl and pour the soup over the bread. Cover and let stand for about 15 minutes. Bread should be soaked completely.
Top with cheese and serve.
