Serves: 6- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 5 to 6 pounds pork spare ribs
- 2 cups root beer
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 1 hour 50 mins1. Preheat grill to medium low and oil rack.
2. In a bowl, stir 2 tablespoons brown sugar together with paprika, chili powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne. Season ribs all over with the mixture.
3. Place ribs on grill, bone side up. Close the lid and cook for about 1 1/2 hours, flipping every half hour.
4. While the ribs are cooking, make a glaze: stir root beer, bourbon, orange juice, and hot sauce together in a saucepan and place over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, the simmer on medium heat for 35 to 40 minutes.
