Baked pomfret coastal style recipe details
Ingredients
2 medium | fishes (pomfret, seabrass), cleaned full pieces |
2 medium | onion, chopped |
1 large | tomato, seeded and chopped |
1 ½ tsp | ginger paste |
1 ½ tsp | garlic paste |
2 tsp | red paprika powder |
2 large | green chilies, sliced |
5 | curry leaves |
½ tsp | black mustard seeds |
¾ cup(s) | coconut milk |
3 tbsp | fresh coconut, grated |
5 tbsp | olive oil |
3 tsp | salt |
½ tsp | turmeric powder |
Instructions
Make 2-3 slits on either side of Pomfret. Mix 1 teaspoon of salt and ˝ teaspoon of turmeric powder and apply uniformly on both sides of the fishes. Marinate for half an hour.Preheat oven to 150 degree Celsius. In a hot broad base pan add 2 tablespoons of oil and heat over low flame. Slightly fry the fishes for 5 minutes, turning once. Take out the fishes and set aside.
In a separate pan heat three tablespoons of oil. Add the curry leaves and the mustard seeds and sauté for a few seconds. After this add chopped onions and fry over a lower flame till soft. Now add green chillies, ginger paste and garlic paste. Sauté for a minute. To this add chopped tomatoes, salt and red paprika and cook for 3 minutes. Pour in coconut milk and add the fish to the gravy. Cook for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with grated coconut and cook for another minute.
Line a baking tray with aluminium foil and brush the foil with butter. Transfer the dish onto the tray. Cover it with the foil and place it into the oven for 10 minutes.
