Aunt mary's chili sauce recipe details
Found this recipe dated August 21,1974 from a recipe collection my late grandmother had kept. This was a recipe given to her by her sister in-law. It is by far the best chili sauce recipe i’ve tasted.
Ready in: 3 hours 30 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 80- 1 peck tomatoes {34 large or 15 pounds}
- 6 hot peppers or to taste
- 3 sweet peppers
- 8 medium onions
- 1 bunch celery
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon mace
- 3 cups cider vinegar
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Preparation method
Prep: 1 hour 30 mins | Cook: 2 hours1. Steam tomatoes, peel and mash.
2. Process or grind hot and sweet peppers, onions, and celery.
3. Add all remaining ingredients and mix well.
4. Cook on medium heat until desired thickness.
5. Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal with canning bath.
