Au gratin leek recipe details
Ingredients
8 stalk(s) | leek, only the white part, cleaned |
salt and freshly ground black pepper | |
2 tbsp | butter |
2 tbsp | flour |
200 ml | vegetable stock |
200 ml | milk |
150 g | freshly grated Cheddar cheese |
8 slice(s) | cooked ham |
Instructions
Cook the leek in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain the leek.In a pan heat the butter. Add the flour and cook stirring until smooth. Deglaze with the stock and the milk and bring to a boil, whisking constantly with a wire whisk. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring. Add half of the grated cheese and stir until the cheese has melted. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Wrap the leek with the ham slices and place side by side into a buttered casserole dish. Cover with the sauce and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Bake in the preheated oven at 175°C for 20 minutes or until slightly golden.
Serve with boiled potatoes.
