Asparagus Onion Casserole recipe
Ingredients
500 g | asparagus, cut into 2cm long pieces |
1 medium | onion, chopped |
4 tbsp | butter |
2 tbsp | flour |
240 ml | milk |
80 g | cream cheese |
60 g | Cheddar cheese, grated |
salt and pepper, to taste |
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan and sauté the asparagus and onion until tender. Transfer to an ungreased baking dish.
In a saucepan, melt remaining butter, add the flour and stir until smooth. Add the milk and cook until thickened and smooth, whilst stirring. Add the cream cheese and season with salt and pepper.
Pour mixture over the asparagus and onion. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
Bake uncovered for about 40 minutes or until heated through.
