Nothing fancy about this fried chicken recipe. Just a few basic ingredients and you’ve got a picnic and mess tent favorite. Adapted from the 1910 Manual for Army Cooks.

Ingredients
Serves: 6- 4 1/2 pounds chicken pieces
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups crushed saltine crackers
- Canola oil, for frying
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 20 mins1. In a deep fryer, heat oil to 350 degrees F.
2. Dip chicken parts in beaten eggs, then dredge in cracker crumbs. Salt and pepper to taste, then fry for 20 minutes in the hot oil, turning once.
3. Drain on paper towels, then serve.
