Ingredients
For the apple filling: | |
6 medium | Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced |
50 g | granulated sugar |
¼ tsp | cinnamon or nutmeg |
2 tbsp | butter, melted |
½ tsp | vanilla extract |
For the oatmeal topping: | |
100 g | oatmeal |
80 g | butter, softened |
150 g | brown sugar |
30 g | flour, all-purpose |
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C.Apple Filling:
Slice apples and place in a bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and toss to coat. Drizzle melted butter and vanilla over apples and gently toss again. Place apple mixture in a buttered baking dish.
Oatmeal Topping:
Mix together the flour with the softened butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Sprinkle the oatmeal mixture over the apples and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown in preheated oven.
Serve warm or cold, as a dessert or breakfast.
Variations: For Blueberry Crisp: Replace apples with 600g blueberries.
Raisins and nuts are a great addition to the apples for a change of taste.
