Ingredients
For the pastry: | |
250 g | plain flour |
175 g | butter, soft |
80 g | caster sugar |
2 | eggs |
1 tsp | cinnamon |
For the filling: | |
1 kg | apples, peeled, cored and sliced |
50 g | caster sugar |
70 g | sultanas |
3 tsp | cinnamon |
Instructions
In a bowl combine the flour with butter, sugar, cinnamon and ¾ of the beaten eggs. Knead until the dough is smooth and pliable. Roll out half of the dough on a floured surface to a round. Line a cake tin with the pastry.In a bowl mix together the apples, sultanas, sugar and the cinnamon. Fill the mixture into the cake form. Roll out the remaining pastry and cut into strips. Arrange the strips on top of the filling in a crisscross. Brush with the remaining egg.
Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C for 50-60 minutes.
