Ingredients
500 g | flour |
½ tsp | salt |
3 | eggs |
120 ml | milk |
1 tsp | treacle |
1 pinch(es) | ground cloves |
1 pinch(es) | cinnamon |
1 pinch(es) | cardamom |
1 pinch(es) | freshly ground nutmeg |
1 tsp | baking powder |
½ tsp | bicarbonate of soda |
175 g | soft butter |
175 g | sugar |
200 g | dried fruit of your choice, diced |

Instructions
In a bowl, combine the baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, sugar, spices and salt. Sift in the flour. Knead in the eggs and the butter until the dough is well combined.In a small saucepan dissolve the treacle in the lukewarm milk. Stir the mixture into the dough. Add the fruits and mix well.
Preheat the oven to 190°C. Spoon the dough into a buttered cake form and bake the cake for about 1-1.5 hours.
