Ingredients
For the dough: | |
42 g | yeast |
50 g | sugar |
500 g | flour |
1 pinch(es) | salt |
1 | egg |
140 g | butter |
225 ml | milk |
For the filling: | |
775 ml | milk |
3 tbsp | vanilla custard powder |
6 tbsp | sugar |
1 glass(es) | morello cherries, drained |

Instructions
Mix together the yeast and 25g of sugar and let stand until liquid. In a bowl, combine the flour with salt and the remaining sugar. Melt 40g of the butter and add the melted butter to the milk. Pour into the flour mixture. Add the egg and the yeast and knead until the dough is soft and pliable. Cover and allow to rise on a warm place for 30 minutes.Again knead the dough. Roll out to a rectangle. Melt the remaining butter and spread the dough with half of the melted butter. Bring the milk with custard powder and sugar to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until the cream has thickened. Allow to cool. Spread the dough rectangle with the cold custard and divide the cherries on top. Roll up to a roll and, with a sharp knife, cut the roll in slices.
Preheat the oven to 175°C. Place the rolls onto lined baking trays. Spread with the remaining butter and bake for 15-20 minutes. Brush the rolls occasionally with melted butter while baking.
Sprinkle the roll slices with the decorating sugar and allow to cool.
