Ingredients

1 kg cod or haddock fillets
500 ml milk
salt and black pepper
3  eggs, hard-boiled, shelled
4 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour, heaped
2 tbsp parsley, chopped
2 tbsp capers, chopped
500 g mashed potatoes, leftovers

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 190°C.

In a saucepan, bring the milk to a boil, add the fish and cook for some minutes, until the fish is done. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Strain and collect the milk.

Flake the fish and divide on the bottom of a buttered deep casserole dish. Shell and slice the eggs and layer the slices on top of the fish.

In a saucepan, heat the butter and stir in the flour. Cook stirring until pale yellow. Add the collected milk, stirring constantly with a wire whisk. Cook stirring, until thickens. Add the capers and parsley and season to taste with salt and pepper. Pour the sauce over the eggs.

Cover with mashed potatoes. Draw lines with a fork, to garnish and divide butter flakes on top. Transfer into the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until the potatoes are slightly browned.
