- Ingredients:
- 1 unbaked pie crust (9-inch)
- Crumb Topping:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Liquid Bottom:
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup light molasses
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
You’ll love the gooey bottom of this pie!
Mix first three crumb topping ingredients together, using a pastry blender, until very fine. Set aside. Add water to molasses, then soda. Add egg and pour into unbaked pie crust – deep pan is preferable. Using a large spoon, mix the crumb mixture well into the molasses filling. Bake in moderate oven at 325 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Use 9- or 10-inch pie pan.
