Ingredients
1 kg | potatoes |
60 g | butter |
300 ml | milk |
500 g | leftover roast beef or roast lamb, cold |
1 large | onion |
olive oil | |
1 tbsp | tomato puree |
Worcester sauce | |
1 glass(es) | red wine |
280 ml | beef broth or gravy |
salt and pepper | |
nutmeg | |
butter flakes |
Instructions
Peel and quarter the potatoes and cook them in salted water until done. Mash the potatoes, stirring in the butter and the milk. Season to taste with salt and nutmeg.Pass the meat through a mincer. Sauté the onions in olive oil, add the minced meat and fry until slightly brown. Stir in the tomato purée, the Worcester sauce, the wine and the gravy or broth. Simmer for 10 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Spoon the meat in a casserole dish and cover with the mashed potatoes. Garnish the surface by drawing lines into the mash, using a fork. Evenly divide the butter flakes on top and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 45 minutes. Bake until the surface is golden brown and the meat starts to sizzle.
