samantha's french toast recipe details
- Ingredients
- 1 loaf Hawaiian bread
- butter
- eggs
- half and half
- cinnamon
- powdered sugar
- maple syrup
Turn the heat on very low under a stick-resistant skillet. Cut the loaf into halves and cut each half into slices. I allow 2 slices per person plus some extra, so for four people, I would cook about 12 slices.
In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs. I allow 1 egg per 2 slices. Pour in and mix well the half and half. I can’t tell you how much exactly, but approximately 1/4 cup per 4 eggs. Melt 1 Tablespoon butter and spread it over the bottom. Dip the bread in egg mixture and then, put it on the skillet. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Watch carefully; you don’t want the toast to be very dark, just lightly browned on each side. Repeat until all your bread is cooked.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with warm maple syrup.
