Quick sponge parkin recipe details
Ingredients
2 cup(s) | self-raising flour |
1 cup(s) | sugar |
4 ounce(s) | margarine |
2 tsp | ground ginger |
2 tbsp | golden syrup |
1 medium | egg |
½ tsp | bicarbonate of soda |
1 cup(s) | boiled milk |
Instructions
Lightly beat the egg in a cup. Warm milk in a pan.Combine all the ingredients, except the milk, in a large bowl and add the beaten egg.
Then add the hot milk and mix with a hand mixer to a pouring batter.
Pour into a 18cm cake tin or in a 20 x 25 cm roasting tin and cook in the oven about 45 minutes at gas 3 or 150°C until golden brown.
This will make approximately 16 portions. It is also nice to serve the sponge parkin with custard sauce.
