Puff pastry cheese danish recipe details
Ingredients
250 g | Philadelphia cream cheese at room temperature |
1 large | egg yolk |
3 tbsp | granulated sugar |
1 tsp | grated lemon rind |
1 tsp | vanilla extract |
1 tbsp | sour cream |
1 large | egg, beaten with a little water for brushing |
1 tbsp | confectionary sugar |
Instructions
Take out your Philadelphia cream cheese and egg yolk and keep at room temperature. Thaw out 2 sheets of puff pastry and set aside. Preheat your oven at 400°F or 200°C.Combine your Philadelphia cheese, egg yolk, sour cream, sugar, lemon rind and vanilla extract together and mix till just combined with a wire whisk. Do not over beat!
Cut your puff pastry sheets into 4 squares each and place some of the Philadelphia cheese mixture directly in the middle of each square. Be careful not to put too much or it will spill over in the oven. Take each corner and lap them over and press them so that they stick together. Do the same with each of the remaining squares. Put into the fridge for 30 minutes to set.
Take them out, lightly brush the tops with the egg and water mixture and place into the oven on a flat baking pan lined with parchment baking paper for approximately 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly, place them onto a serving plate and dust with confectionary sugar. Enjoy.
