Ingredients
200 g | potatoes |
salt and pepper | |
500 ml | milk |
200 g | pasta |
2 | red onions, sliced |
2 clove(s) | garlic, sliced |
2 tbsp | butter |
75 g | freshly grated Cheddar cheese |
4 large | apples, peeled, cored and sliced |
2 tbsp | sugar |
125 ml | apple juice |
1 tbsp | lemon juice |
Instructions
Cook the potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain, peel and slice the potatoes.Bring the milk with a pinch of salt to a boil. Add the pasta and simmer for 10 minutes or until al dente. Drain.
In a pan, sauté onions and garlic in a tablespoon of butter until lucent.
Layer the potatoes, onion and garlic and the pasta into a casserole dish. Moisten with a little of the milk. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with the cheese. Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C for 15 minutes.
Sauté the apples in the remaining butter for a minute, adding the sugar. Deglaze with apple juice and steam for 5 minutes. Mash the apples and season to taste with lemon juice.
Serve the casserole with the apple sauce.
