Paradise gateway scones recipe details
- Ingredients
- 2 cups white flour
- 3 Tablespoons white sugar
- 3-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup margarine
- 1/3 cup dried cherries, blueberries, dates, raisins, or cranberries
- 3/4 cup milk
- Additional milk for the tops of scones
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in margarine with pastry cutter or fingers until mixture resembles coarse oatmeal. Add fruit and mix together. Add 3/4 cup milk. Mix lightly with a fork until just blended. Add 1 or 2 additional tablespoons of milk, if necessary, to hold mixture together.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Divide dough into equal parts and turn onto floured board. Pat into circles 1-inch in thickness. Handle only enough to pat into shape. Score with a knife halfway through to form four portions in each circle. Brush with 1 Tablespoon milk. Bake scones for 18 to 20 minutes. Makes 8 scones. Complement with lemon curd.
