Oat cookies recipe details
Ingredients
100 g | soft margarine |
50 g | caster sugar |
125 g | self-raising flour |
25 g | rolled oats, for coating |
Instructions
Preheat oven to Gas Mark 4, 180°C, 350°F.Cream margarine with sugar in a bowl. Slowly add flour and work in.
Place the oats on a plate or shallow dish.
Take a portion of dough and roll into 1 inch, 25mm balls. Repeat for remainder of dough.
Roll the dough balls in the oats a few at a time until well coated.
Place the balls on a greased baking dish and lightly flatten them with a fork.
Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden.
Remove from tray and allow to cool on a wire rack. May be eaten warm or cold.
Options:replace margarine with butter for a richer taste.
Replace 15g of the flour with 1 tbsp of cocoa powder and omit oats, for chocolate cookies.
Omit oats and add 1 tsp ground cinnamon to the flour, for cinnamon cookies.
