Marble sponge cake recipe details
Ingredients
150 g | unsalted butter |
3 tbsp | honey |
3 large | eggs, beaten |
150 g | self-raising flour |
75 g | cocoa powder |
Instructions
Preheat oven to Gas Mark 4, 180░C, 35░0F. Butter and flour a 89-inch, 20cm cake tin.Melt butter and honey together in a small pan.
Sift flour into a bowl and stir in butter mixture. Add the eggs and beat together thoroughly.
Divide the mixture between two bowls. Sift the cocoa powder into one and stir it in well. Pour the mixture into the tin. Carefully pour the plain mixture on top and gently swirl the two mixtures together with a spoon.
Bake for approximately 20 minutes until well risen and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Allow to cool in tin for 10 minutes and turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice thinly to show the marbling effect.
