Malvern pudding recipe details
Ingredients
450 g cooking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced |
60 g sugar |
60 g unsalted butter |
30 g plain flour |
1 large egg, beaten |
60 g Demerara sugar, for topping |
1 tsp ground cinnamon, for topping |
500 ml of milk |
Instructions
1. Melt half the butter in a large pan and then stir in the flour until well mixed. 2. Slowly add the milk and stir together. 3. Remove the pan from the heat and add the granulated sugar, stirring until dissolved. 4. Add the egg and return to the heat, while stirring to form a loose, runny custard.5. Place the apple slices in a baking dish and pour the custard over the top. 6. Mix together the Demerara sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the top. 7. Dot the remaining butter over the top. Place the dish under a medium-hot grill and cook until it bubbles and the sugar caramelises. 8. Remove from grill and allow to cool.
Serve warm or cold as desired.
