Jamaican style plain cake recipe details
Ingredients
250 g plain flour |
225 g sugar |
2 medium eggs |
1 tbsp baking powder |
180 ml water |
125 g unsalted butter |
½ tsp salt |
1 tsp vanilla extract |
Instructions
Preheat oven to gas Mark 4, 180°C, 350°F.Grease and flour an 8-inch, 20cm cake tin.
Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, folding into the mixture until well blended. Fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture. Add the water and vanilla and continue folding until no dry powders are visible, but do not fold unnecessarily.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake come out clean.
Cool before attempting to remove from tin.
