Ingredients

250 g white bread, stale, cubed
milk or water, to soak the bread
1 kg lean pork, coarsely minced
1 onion, peeled and chopped
1 tsp sage, chopped
salt and black pepper

Instructions

Place the cubed bread into a bowl and cover with milk or water. Allow to soak for approximately 30 minutes. Squeeze out the excess liquid.

Preheat the oven to 190°C.

Mix the minced pork with the bread, onion and sage and season with salt and pepper. Pass the mixture through a fine mincer.

Slightly butter a loaf tin. Evenly divide the mixture in the tin and press down firmly.

Bake the Haslet for 1.5-2 hours. Cover with baking paper if it browns too quickly. Leave to stand in the tin to cool slightly. After a while turn it out on to a wire rack and allow to cool completely.
