Fannie mae's apple pie recipe details
This is my great grandmother’s recipe for apple pie. I lost it once so I needed a safe place to put it. Serve with a dollop of whip cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Serves: 8- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 6 cups peeled, sliced apples
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- pastry for 9 inch pie crust – top and bottom crust
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 1 hour1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
2. Combine dry ingredients and pour over apple slices in a freezer bag; add lemon juice. Toss mixture until slices are well coated.
3. Turn apple mixture into a pastry-lined pan, heaping in the center. Dot with butter or margarine. Add top crust, crimp edges to seal top and bottom crust together, and cut gashes for steam to escape.
