Don's yummy cheese grits recipe details
- Ingredients
- 4 cups boiling water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup grits
- 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter or margarine
- 2 cups or more grated cheese
- 3 eggs, well beaten
As is true with many of our finest foods, to many it may be a matter of Acquired Taste. Don’t give up!
Slowly pour the grits into the boiling salted water, stirring constantly until mixed. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. When grits are cooked, add butter, cheese, and eggs; mix well. Pour into greased baking dish (1-1/2 quarts) and bake 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
Great for breakfast with bacon or eggs, or dinner with ham and spinach souffle. Keeps forever in the refrigerator. Just pop in microwave for noon or midnight snack.
