- Ingredients
- 2 cups ground dates
- 1-1/2 cups boiling water
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup nuts
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
Put dates in a bowl; pour hot water over dates and let stand. In a separate bowl, beat together sugar, egg, vanilla, salt, and butter. Add nuts, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking soda. Add this mixture to date mixture. Pour into a 13 x 9-inch pan or 5 small loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
