|1||star fruit, sliced|
|100 g||dried dates|
|250 g||milk chocolate|
|250 g||dark chocolate|
|4 tbsp||rum or brandy, 2 for each chocolate bowl|
|2 tbsp||unsalted butter, 1 for each chocolate bowl|
|sugar sprinkles, also known as ‘hundreds and thousands’|
Melt the chocolate separately and simultaneously in 2 small glass bowls over hot water in small saucepans, making sure that the bottoms of the bowls are not immersed in water. When the chocolate begins to melt add the butter and stir in thoroughly. Add the rum or brandy and stir until smooth and even.
Using a fork or cocktail stick pick up a piece of fruit and immerse in the melted chocolate. Coat half of the fruit with milk chocolate and the second half with the dark. Repeat with remaining fruit.
Place the dipped fruit on a lightly oiled baking sheet or cover with parchment and allow to set.
While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle the decorations over the chocolate and allow to set completely.
The star fruit and persimmon can be used as Christmas tree decorations and eaten later.
