Cheesy potato bake recipe details
Ingredients
1.2 kg | potatoes, peeled, sliced |
60 g | butter, melted |
20 g | flour |
550 ml | milk |
240 g | Cheddar cheese, grated |
salt and pepper, to taste |
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease a 6cm deep, 24cm square baking dish.Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Add milk, stirring constantly until well combined.
Return to heat and cook, stirring, until sauce comes to the boil.
Add half of the grated cheese and stir to combine.
Arrange 1/3 of potatoes, overlapping slightly, over base of baking dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Spoon 1/3 of the cheese sauce over potatoes. Repeat twice until all potatoes are used up.
Sprinkle with remaining cheese and bake for 1 hour. If top begins to brown too much, cover with foil.
