Calzone bolognese recipe details
Ingredients
For the dough: | |
20 g | dried yeast |
½ tsp | salt |
350 g | flour |
¼ tsp | sugar |
3 tbsp | butter |
240 ml | milk |
For the Filling: | |
500 g | minced beef |
1 medium | onion, chopped |
1 | red pepper, chopped |
2 clove(s) | garlic, minced |
1 tsp | mixed herbs |
400 g | canned tomatoes, chopped |
1 tbsp | Worcestershire sauce |
1 tbsp | tomato paste |
100 g | Mozzarella cheese, grated |
freshly ground pepper, to taste | |
egg wash, 1 beaten egg mixed with a small quantity of liquid |
Instructions
Dough:Combine yeast, sugar, flour, salt and butter. Gradually add the milk and mix to a soft dough. Knead. Leave until doubled in size, 1 – 1 1/2 hours.
Filling:
Fry minced beef, onion, pepper, garlic and herbs. Cook for 10 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, puree, Worcestershire sauce and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
Calzone:
Knead dough. Cut into four. Knead and roll out to form 15 cm circles. Place a quarter of the sauce and mozzarella on half of the dough rounds. Fold dough over beef sauce and moisten edges with egg wash. Seal.
Bake at 200°C until slightly browned.
