Ingredients

2  haddock fillets
some milk
350 g potatoes, peeled and quartered
nutmeg
2  hard boiled eggs
1 tbsp butter
1 ½ tbsp plain flour
1 pinch(es) turmeric
salt and pepper
75 g freshly grated Cheddar cheese

Instructions

Cook the potatoes until soft. Drain, add a dash of milk and a knob of butter and mash. Season to taste with salt, pepper and nutmeg.

In a pan cover the fish with the milk. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat. Strain and catch the milk. In a saucepan melt the butter. Add the flour and cook stirring for 1-2 minutes. Whisk in the milk, bring to the boil and cook for some minutes. If too thick, add more milk. Season to taste with salt, pepper and turmeric.

Add the fish and transfer the mixture into a casserole dish. Cut the eggs in slices and divide on top of the mixture. Cover with the mashed potatoes and sprinkle with the cheese. Bake in the preheated oven at 190°C for 30 minutes until golden.
