Autumn apple and marzipan cake with chocolate crumbles recipe details
Ingredients
80 g | dark chocolate, chopped |
500 g | butter |
575 g | flour |
2 tsp | cocoa powder |
350 g | sugar |
2 pack(s) | vanilla sugar |
salt | |
100 g | rolled oats |
2 kg | apples, peeled, cored and halved |
4 tbsp | lemon juice |
300 g | marzipan, grated |
6 medium | eggs |
75 g | cornflour |
3 tsp | baking powder |
Instructions
Over a water bath melt 200g of the butter together with the chocolate. Mix together 225g of flour, the cocoa powder, 150g of sugar, half of the vanilla sugar, salt and the rolled oats. Pour in the chocolate mixture and knead with your fingertips until well combined and crumbled.Carve several times halfway into the rounds of the apple halves. Drizzle the apples with lemon juice.
In a bowl, cream together 300g of the butter, 200g of sugar, the remaining vanilla sugar, a pinch of salt and the marzipan. Whisk in the eggs. Add the sieved remaining flour, cornflour and baking powder and stir until well combined.
Preheat the oven to 150°C.
Dust a buttered baking tray with flour. Pour in the batter, flatten and divide the apple halves, round side up, on top. Sprinkle with the chocolate crumbles. Bake for 40-50 minutes.
