Pound cake recipe details
- Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (not sifted)
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 pound butter (or 1/4 pound butter plus 1/2 cup Crisco shortening)

A most interesting thing about this cake — one morning while in a rush – using two exact mixing bowls – all the ingredients were in and beating for 20 minutes – into the oven it went and baking. The other pan with the butter and Crisco were still there! Oh, well, we let it bake the way it was and with two guests on low-fat diets. Try it, you’ll love it, no kidding. It was tasty and terrific for those who want lower fat.
Put all ingredients in bowl and beat at medium speed for 20 minutes.
Grease and flour a tube pan; pour mixture in pan. Put pan in cold oven and set to 350 degrees. Bake 1 hour until toothpick comes out clean.
