Nana's fried tomatoes recipe details
- Ingredients
- 4 firm tomatoes (slightly green is best)
- Flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- Crushed corn flakes
- Sugar
- Garlic pepper
- Kosher salt
- 4 Tablespoons olive oil
- 2 Tablespoons bacon fat
- 1 teaspoon Parmesan cheese
- Bacon bits, well-drained
Slice tomatoes 1/2 inch thick, removing stem top and some skin from bottom. Dredge in flour, dip in beaten egg, then dredge in crushed corn flakes. Sprinkle lightly with sugar, garlic pepper, and a pinch of Kosher salt.
Fry in olive oil and bacon fat. Place on warm serving plate and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Top with bacon bits.
