Girlie's creamy potato side dish recipe details
- Ingredients
- 2 pounds Southern-style frozen hash browns, slightly thawed
- 1 can low-fat cream of chicken soup
- 1 soup can non-fat milk
- 1 pint non-fat sour cream (preferably Naturally Yours brand)
- 1 or move cloves of garlic, pressed, to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (not white cheddar)
- 1/2 cup or 1 small chopped onion
Gloria’s mother was called Girlie by her three brothers. She became a wonderful cook in the farmhouse kitchen. The nickname stuck; after her siblings had children, she was called Auntie Girlie! Alice is her given name and she’s the best cook we know.
In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Then pour mixture into 9 x 13-inch casserole dish. (May be frozen at this point for later use.) Bake at 350 degrees about 60 to 70 minutes, longer if frozen.
