Dobson housebed and breakfast recipe details
- Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 quart rhubarb, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 shakes cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
Cream the 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons butter together; add milk. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Blend with creamed mixture.
Cook the rhubarb, mixed with 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water, and 2 teaspoons butter, about 7 minutes. Put rhubarb in a 1-quart casserole and pour batter over the sauce. Sprinkle batter with brown sugar and 1 teaspoon sugar mixed with cinnamon and nutmeg. (I also like to add a shake or 2 of cinnamon and nutmeg to the rhubarb as it is cooking.)
Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Serve warm with cream or ice cream.
