Beetroot in red wine recipe details
Ingredients
4 | beetroot, the smaller the better! |
200 ml | red wine |
salt and pepper | |
1 tsp | sugar |
Instructions
Peel the beetroot and cut in half. Pour the wine into a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil and add the beetroot. Season with salt and pepper and add some sugar, to get the full aroma of the beetroot. Cover and slowly cook in the wine over low heat. You might need to add some water later. Turn the beetroot occasionally. After approximately 2,5 hours of simmering the beetroot should be soft and the wine will have thickened.Serve as a side dish to steak! Delicious and beautiful in colour!
