Ground lamb and black bean chili is made even tastier with Fat Tire beer. Jalapeno and habanero chiles give this chili a good spice. Make sure the rest of that six-pack is chilled!
Ready in: 2 hours 30 mins

Ingredients

Serves: 4
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground lamb

  • Spice Mix*
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste

  • 1 (12 ounce) can or bottle Fat Tire(R) beer (or your favorite malty micro)
  • 1 (16 ounce) can organic tomato sauce
  • 1 (16 ounce) can organic black beans, undrained
  • 3 jalapeno peppers, minced (seeds-in for hotter chili)
  • 1 habanero pepper, minced (seeds-in for REALLY hot chili)
  • 1 red onion, small diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons masa harina flour (optional)

Preparation method

Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 2 hours 15 mins

1. Heat the olive oil in large pot over high heat. Brown the lamb until crumbly, browned, and no longer pink, about 7 minutes. Stir in the spices, and cook for 10 seconds. Pour in the beer, bring to a boil, and boil for 5 minutes.
2. Stir in all the remaining ingredients except for the masa harina flour, and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to maintain the simmer, cover, and cook 2 hours.
3. After 2 hours, stir in the masa harina if you’d like a thicker chili. Simmer gently 15 minutes longer to give the masa time to thicken.* Note

If you don’t have all these spices, you can just buy a box of Carroll Shelby’s(R) Original Texas Chili Kit.
